Different marketplaces have different title length rules:
Amazon: max 200 characters
Etsy: max 140 characters
Poshmark: max 80 characters
If your product title exceeds the allowed length, ExportYourStore will show a “Title is too long” error. Here’s how to fix it quickly.
1. Edit the Product on ExportYourStore
Manually editing your title in ExportYourStore does not change the source platform, so it’s useful if you want different titles on different marketplaces.
Steps:
Go to the Products page
Find the product and click Edit
Change the title
Click Save (or Save & Export to send the update to the target marketplace)
2. Use Rules to Automatically Adjust Titles
You can create rules to modify titles across multiple products at once.
Steps:
On the toolbar above the Products table, click Rules
Navigate to Appearance → Title
Create a Remove Words rule to shorten titles automatically
This is ideal if you want to apply consistent adjustments across many listings.

3. Use the Bulk-Edit Tool
Bulk editing allows you to update multiple product titles at once.
Steps:
Select the products you want to edit
Open the Bulk Edit menu above the Products table
Select Edit Titles
Apply the rule that fits your scenario
4. Export with AI
For a smarter solution, use Export with AI. The AI can:
Shorten long titles to fit the target marketplace
Optimize titles for readability and keywords
Automatically fix other required fields before export
This saves time and reduces manual errors.
5. Edit the Product on the Source Platform
If you prefer, you can edit the title on your source marketplace directly. After editing:
Use the Re-Import bulk action in ExportYourStore
The updated title will appear in your dashboard for export
