ExportYourStore allows you to update product descriptions in bulk using Rules. This helps you quickly clean up descriptions, remove unwanted text, add standard content, or prepare listings for different marketplaces.
Go to your Products Page in your ExportYourStore dashboard
Click the Rules button to open the Rules panel
Inside the Rules panel, go to Appearance
Select Description to access description editing options
From the dropdown menu, select the option that fits your needs:
Select Part of Text
Edit or target a specific section of the product description without changing the full content.
Remove Words
Remove specific words or phrases from selected descriptions.
Example: remove old promotional text or repeated wording.
Replace Words
Replace specific words or phrases with new text.
Example: replace outdated wording with updated product terms.
Append Text to the Start
Add text at the beginning of each product description.
Example: add a standard introduction or store message.
Append Text to the End
Add text at the end of each product description.
Example: add shipping details, return policy, or warranty information.
Configure Item Specifics
Insert important product details into descriptions automatically to improve listing completeness.
Smart HTML Removal
Remove unnecessary HTML formatting while keeping clean readable text.
Recommended when descriptions contain copied marketplace formatting.
Set To
Replace the full description with a new fixed value for all selected listings.
Review your description settings to ensure they are correct and click Save Changes to apply the updates.
Where to Edit Product Description Manually
You can also edit your product description manually when you only need to make a small change or when the update applies to only a few listings.
This is useful for quick edits that do not require bulk rules.
Steps to edit manually
Click either of the Edit buttons on the product you want to update to open product details.
Go to the Description section.
Edit your description in the text box provided.
You can also click Enhance with AI if you want AI to improve your product description automatically.
AI can help you:
Improve readability
Optimize wording
Clean formatting
Make descriptions more marketplace-ready
Once finished, click Save or Save & Export to apply your changes.
Save Options
Save → saves the changes without exporting
Save & Export → saves the changes and immediately updates the target marketplace
